Introducing Prof. Erin Johnson!
The LJC is pleased to welcome Prof. Erin Johnson, the Lennard-Jones Centre and Royal Society Wolfson Visiting Professor. Erin visits us from Dalhousie University, where she is the Herzberg-Becke Chair in Theoretical Chemistry.
On Wednesday, Erin gave an exciting seminar on her group's research into the exchange-hole dipole moment (XDM) model, which enables van der Waals dispersion interactions to be treated accurately within the density functional theory framework. The breadth of systems which XDM can treat accurately has allowed it to be used in applications ranging from pharmaceutical drug discovery to metal surface catalysis. We ended the seminar with a drinks reception, where students got to speak to Erin.
The LJC wishes Erin an exciting and enjoyable time at Cambridge with many fruitful collaborations!
